When I Consider
by Randy Chambers, 2021-09-18
Psalm 8:3-5, NIV: When I consider your heavens, the work of your
fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that
you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a
little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
Imagine what we must look like to an ant. Gigantic seems like an understatement.
Yet, the ant takes little notice of us--unless it must dodge our attempts to take
its life, or to avoid our feet from inadvertently landing on it. The ant is used
to our being there. Consider our likeness compared to God. We are so small; yet
to Him, we are not insignificant. David asked God, "What is man that You are
mindful of him?" Consider God. How do we consider Him? He is the Alpha, the
Omega--the beginning and the end. He is the Creator of all, the Holy One, the
Righteous Judge, our Rock and our Salvation. The list goes on. He is Gigantic to
us, yet so many of us take little notice of Him as we scurry about from one
thing to the next. Consider the ant. Consider man. And consider the God who
considers us important enough to Him to be considered.
